Who are we?

Lambda Pi Alpha Sorority was organized in 1930 by Hulda Margaret Lyttle at Meharry Medical College School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee.  It was granted a charter by the State of Tennessee in 1933.


 In 1935 there were seven chapters located in Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Kansas City, Mo, Indianapolis, IN and New Orleans, LA. 


The Beta Mu Chapter was formed in Chicago in April, 1934 at Provident Hospital.  Membership is offered to any registered professional nurse of good moral character who is in good standing within the nursing community in all phases of nursing:  hospitals, public health, school nursing, and the private sector as well as budding entrepreneurs.

BETA MU CHAPTER is committed to sisterhood, education and community involvement.

Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha Sorority's Mission: 

1.  Providing scholarships to deserving student nurses.

  2.  Heightening community awareness of the continued need for appropriate healthcare

through workshops and seminars. 

 3.  Supporting various other charitable organizations. 

 4.  Providing mentoring services to students. 

 5.  Assisting needy families by providing food and clothing.
