This organization was established in 1930 by Hulda Margaret Lyttle at Meharry Medical College School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. Lambda Pi Alpha was granted a charter by the State of Tennessee in 1933. In 1935, there were seven chapters located in Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Kansas City, MO; Indianapolis, IN and New Orleans, LA.
The Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha Sorority was organized at Provident Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, under the direction of Miss Little in April 1934. The members of Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha Sorority will be celebrating 90 years of "Finer Womanhood".We would like to thank all the nurses past and present who have been a part of this sorority.
